Repose: Repose is a blend to turn to when your mind, body, and spirit need rest - When overwhelm is present and stillness is a necessary remedy. The herbs that make up this blend are calming, soothing, and encourage a restful state of being.

-Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla): Chamomile is a beautiful herb for many things. These can include easing digestive upset, bringing calm to the nervous system, assisting in restful sleep, and anti-inflammatory properties that are helpful in alleviating pain. Chamomile is lovely for soothing a restless or anxious spirit and bringing a sense of stillness to your well-being.

-Lavender (Lavendula): Lavender brings forth a powerful yet gentle wave of tranquility to a person’s well-being. It can be calming and uplifting to an overactive, nervous, restless, or despondent mind. It can be soothing to an unsettled or upset digestive system. And can be helpful in relaxing the mind and the body enough to drift off into a peaceful and restful slumber. Lavender is a comforting and serene plant ally to turn to in moments of overwhelm or stress.

-American Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora): American Skullcap is the queen of calm, easing nervous tension in the body and encouraging a restful state. It can stimulate the releasing of endorphins, helping to balance your mood. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, aiding in pain relief and preventative cell damage. Skullcap is also a mild sedative and is beneficial in promoting a peaceful night’s sleep.

Temperate tulsi basil (Ocimum africanum): Tulsi basil is an expansive and deeply nourishing plant ally. Tulsi is delightfully tasty and nourishing in many ways to the mind, body, and spirit. It is an adaptogen, helping the body to regulate and restore after the experience of a stressful event. Tulsi protects the body from the degenerative effects of stress while also repairing the body from it’s damage. It is also known as an immunomodulator, meaning it has the ability to strengthen and regulate the immune system on a deep and potent level. Tulsi contains compounds that help reduce respiratory inflammation, helping to relieve respiratory congestion and open the airways. Tulsi is calming to the nervous system and uplifting to the mind.

Contraindications: American skullcap and tulsi are not intended for use while pregnant or breastfeeding.

*dosage:

  • Adults - 25-30 drops (1 dropper full) 1-3 times a day, or as needed.

  • Children - Add 12 to the Child’s age and divide the child’s age by this total.

Ex.: 4yrs + 12 = 16 Then, 4:16 = .25 So this child’s dosage would be one quarter of the adult dosage.

*Store in a cool dark place for longer preservation (2 years).

What is a tincture?

A tincture is the extracted and concentrated version of a plant. Alcohol is most often used to make one, as it is the strongest solvent and can extract most of the chemical constituents from the plants. However, apple cider vinegar and vegetable glycerin are also useful, and tastier, ways of extracting the medicinal properties of plants. I make my remedies using the folk method. This means I do not do any formal measuring of my ingredients but instead use my intuition, gathered knowledge and experience when preparing them. I use high proof organic cane alcohol in my tinctures, this makes for a strong formula. I recommend introducing your body to them slowly and working your way up to the recommend dosage or what feels good to you, especially if you’re new to some of the plants in the blends. While these plants have a general consensus for how they interact with the human body, everyone’s body is different and therefore can have its own unique way of responding to these remedies.

*There are a few ways you can take a tincture, with each their own benefits and things to keep in mind:

  1. Micro dose - this is a great way to introduce yourself to a new herb/herbs and can be a wise choice for those who want to work with the energetics of an herb or whom are quite sensitive.

  2. Dropping the recommended dosage directly to the tongue - this method is going to be the quickest way to get these herbs into your system, however my tinctures are strong in taste and this could be overwhelming to the senses.

  3. Take a shot - mix your dosage amount into a small bit of water or other preferred liquid, this will tame the strong flavor and taste of alcohol but could take a bit longer to get into your system.

  4. Mix your dosage amount into a beverage of your choosing - This will greatly tame the taste and would likely take some time to feel its milder effects.

*We inhabit Cherokee land and I feel a strong connection to the wisdom and energies that our soil holds in light of that.
