A cleansing blend of herbs to get things flowing - Spring cleaning for the body.

Stinging nettle (urtica dioica): Nettle is a blood builder, diuretic, and anti-inflammatory and anti-histamine. Because of its anti-inflammatory/histamine properties, it can help to alleviate allergy related symptoms. Due to its diuretic properties (helps us to release waste via our bladder), it aids us in maintaining healthy lymphatic flow. Nettle works on many levels to support the health and regeneration of our bodies on a cellular level.

Chickweed (stellaria media): Chickweed is a cooling, incredibly nutritive and cleansing herb that is supportive to our body’s well being in numerous ways. It is specifically supportive to our lymphatic and digestive systems, thyroid, liver and kidneys. It cleanses toxicity from the body and helps move along any stagnancy we may have built up, keeping things flowing.

Cleavers: Similar to chickweed, cleavers are powerful when it comes to supporting our body's detox systems. They are most supportive to our lymphatic system, helping to move along any build up of burdensome waste and toxicity within. Cleavers move this waste out of the body with its diuretic properties, through our kidneys, bladder and urinary tract, aiding to the health and proper functioning of these important detox pathways.

Violet Leaf: Violet leaf is also a powerful lymph mover, helping the body rid itself of toxic build up. It also supports detoxification through our livers. Violet leaf can also be helpful for upper respiratory ailments due to its moistening nature and abilities to soothe inflammation.

Rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis): Rosemary can be nourishing to our bodies in numerous ways. It’s full of anti-oxidants and antibacterial properties, strengthening our immune systems. It also contains constituents that support our circulatory, digestive, and nervous systems. It is warming to the body and stimulating to the mind, helping to improve and keep our memories sharp.

*Dosage:

  • Adults - 15-30 drops 1-3 times a day, or as needed. It is not recommended to take this blend for more than 1-2 weeks at a time.

  • Children - Add 12 to the Child’s age and divide the child’s age by this total.

Ex.: 4yrs + 12 = 16 Then, 4:16 = .25 So this child’s dosage would be one quarter of the adult dosage.

*Store in a cool dark place for longer preservation. These remedies will likely last a lifetime, however overtime they do lose their potency.

What is a tincture?

A tincture is the extracted and concentrated version of a plant. Alcohol is most often used to make one, as it is the strongest solvent and can extract most of the chemical constituents from the plants. However, apple cider vinegar and vegetable glycerin are also useful, and tastier, ways of extracting the medicinal properties of plants. I make my remedies using the folk method. This means I do not do any formal measuring of my ingredients but instead use my intuition, gathered knowledge and experience when preparing them. I use high proof organic cane alcohol in my tinctures, this makes for a strong formula. I recommend introducing your body to them slowly and working your way up to the recommend dosage or what feels good to you, especially if you’re new to some of the plants in the blends. While these plants have a general consensus for how they interact with the human body, everyone’s body is different and therefore can have its own unique way of responding to these remedies.

*There are a few ways you can take a tincture, with each their own benefits and things to keep in mind:

  1. Micro dose - this is a great way to introduce yourself to a new herb/herbs and can be a wise choice for those who want to work with the energetics of an herb or whom are quite sensitive.

  2. Dropping the recommended dosage directly to the tongue - this method is going to be the quickest way to get these herbs into your system, however my tinctures are strong in taste and this could be overwhelming to the senses.

  3. Take a shot - mix your dosage amount into a small bit of water or other preferred liquid, this will tame the strong flavor and taste of alcohol but could take a bit longer to get into your system.

  4. Mix your dosage amount into a beverage of your choosing - This will greatly tame the taste and would likely take some time to feel its milder effects.

*We inhabit Cherokee land and I feel a strong connection to the wisdom and energies that our soil holds in light of that. All of the herbs and plants used in these medicine mediums are organically and ethically grown or foraged in my garden, yard, or nearby forest by me, or ethically sourced from a nearby farm in the prime of their lifespan. Intimately knowing and tending to these plants offers the opportunity for their spirits to be felt and to have peace of mind that they are healthy, loved, and respected and therefore potent in their healing gifts. It is my hope that you’re touched by the magic in this medicine and the healing it has to offer you, that your own relationships with these plants and the ones around you will deepen and your connection to our Earth and therefore yourself will feel nourished and restored.

*Disclaimer* I am not a medical doctor but instead a forever student of the Earth and bridge to her wisdom. Therefore I always recommend you do your own research on these plants and how they may interact with any medications you may take or conditions you might have, and perhaps consult a professional regarding your concerns. If you take pharmaceutical medications or are pregnant or breastfeeding, please take extra precaution and consult your health provider.
